in a funny line thingy? do you mean the 'timeline' at the bottom?
or the little preview video at the side?

when you save (or export?) the video, you'll be able to play it full size in media player or whatever player you use

I think he's having problems seeing it to edit it, as I assume that squished up 4 pixel high line is actually the playback of your video?

To get the videos off the video camara i have to use a sony utillity program. Then to use it with windows media player i have to convert it to somethink (sorry cant remember what its called) to make it play.

Back to the movie maker- It wont play right in the preview at the right of the page.

Have a look for PSP utilities on google, loads of them are free and there's a sony video file editor/converter that may be easier to use than windows movie maker. Afraid I know nothing about the latter, HTH

Any idea what format the camera records in and what are you converting it to?
Which converter are you using?

My cam is a sony handycamDCR-DVD110 and i think it does it in MPEG. Then to get it to work on media player i convert the MPEG to WMV with the sony utility converter.

Any ideas?

Have never used movie maker but just fired it up to have a look and I seemed to be able to import an 'mpg' straight into it?
If all else fails it's worth trying a different converter or try converting it to 'avi' and import that?
Just making guesses here

Oh, and for some reason right clicking a file and trying to "open with" movie maker doesn't work for me but once movie maker is going I can click on "import video" in the left hand menu and so far its agreed to import mpg(mpeg) avi and mov without a problem :\

Movie maker is utter cack...

Try downloading the K-light codec pack and installing all the codecs within...

That MIGHT help...

Failing that... you need to acquire a slightly better program from somewhere...
