Audio ripping software
I want to rip some music from a 'listen again' site - Ministry of Sound. Can anybody recommend a good piece of software to do this?
If you're not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room.

you need a program that will record directly from your soundcard. Again I have one, and again I can't remember its name.
Give me a sec and I'll try to track it down

On some soundcards, you can set the recording input source to 'Stereo mix' which will directly record the sound that goes to the speakers.
You can then use any old software to record it.
I think this practice has been denied with Vista and Win7 because I'm yet to find a non XP machine that has this feature.

Just installed Goldwave, got the file playing from the web site, but nothing is coming up on Goldwave and I can't record it. All looks very
complicated to me ....
And I'm running 7 .....

It's simple really. If you create a new file and press the red record button a window should come up with the recording properties. Try changing
the input to "stereo mix" and job's a good'un. It's quite intuitive to learn.

Yup - did just that, didn't like it: 'Can't start recording, see Help file' .....
Replay is not picking it up either, must be something with my PC then .....

Number one difficulty here tends to be finding the available stereo out mix to actually record from.
In a great number of cases, this is not shown as an option, so it looks impossible.
It's not difficult to sort it.
Within control panel, go to the 'Sound' option then click the 'Recording' tab.
This show the sources from which to record. Chances are your stereo mix won't be there.
Now the magic bit.
Right click over the windows and choose the option to show disabled devices.
Your option to record from the stereo mix will be in there.
Once that's chosen as the device from which you record, you're good to go.
Worked for me.

Zilspeed, did everything you said, and now have Stereo Mix showing, and enabled, but there's no bars on music showing (there is out the output
tab).
Still stuck .

I've used total recorder for doing that before. Works great, but you'll have to *not* pay for it.

hi guys, followed all the tips and now recording! is there any way of not having it playing full volume out of the speakers? but still recording at
full volume?

Why do you have to play it full volume out of the speakers?
I know in total recorder it just takes the feed directly from the source, nothing to do with the speakers

Just tried Zils fix on my work PC, and Stereo Mix doesn't show up which the box is right clicked at all .... so still no nearer to a fix.....
