You could always send a u2u to Guinness
on here he has the same engine and was selling some bits the other week.

Think about it, think about it again and then do it.

The oil pressure port is on the sump.

I welded a boss onto the steel water rail under the carbs for water temp.

I used the standard mk2 escort centre bearing and to be honest the rubber is knackered but hasn't given any problems. Have you checked the prop for damaged UJ's ?

Where about are you?

Hi, Thanks for the answers, have u2u guinness and he is getting back to me. The problem with the prop is that the bearing rubber gives that much that the prop fouls the tunnel metal work on high rev gear changes.

Hi Stephen

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you.

Oil pressure, as Davie says, is located in the side of the sump. I originally installed a t-adaptor directly into this hole and fitted the original pressure switch and the pressure sender into it. It lasted about 50 miles before the adaptor sheared off and let all my oil escape.

You can see the hole on the bottom right of the picture below (the bit of brass showing is what is left of the adaptor!), which is now permanently sealed with a rivet!

Note this is the GPZ900 sump, but the sender is in about the same location on the original.

In this shot you can also see the end cap in the main oil gallery, which is where the Haynes manual says you can take oil pressure from as well. (Below the timing wheel cover, above the water pipe).

I can't remember what the thread is, but I have a spare plug if you wanted to drill and tap it for a sender.

I have an oil temperature sender in the end of the main gallery, which by my thinking should let me know what the temp of the oil is as it's being delivered to the bearings. I guess it's possible the sender could suffer heat soak from the block, but everything is a compromise.

After my broken T adaptor, I got another one and relocated the oil pressure switch and sender using a remote fitting kit. (I know the wiring isn't very neat).

This is fixed using a P clip and earthed appropriately.

I got all the adaptors, senders and remote fitting kit from LMA.

Water temp, I have a new sender (matched to my gauges) in the original thermostat housing (had to re-tap to the right thread).

HTH

Mike
