This maybe a silly question?
After having my house burgled and a fair amount of stuff stolen. I have been given a cheque for about the same as it will cost to finish my Indy R.
So do I replace everything I lost or replace the bare essential and get the Mk finished?
Pete.

its an interesting dilemma. do you actually need the stuff that was stolen? or could you replace with second hand stuff at a fraction of the cost and
finish the car. if i wasnt married i'd finish the indy, and get down to the local charity shops/.car boots to replace the stolen stuff

Presumably you have a list of what was stolen? Go down the list and cross of anything that you haven't used / worn / whatever for the last x
months IE anything you could do without.
It'll probably add up, then spend that amount on the car. We tend to accumulate lots of stuff we don't need and it's a good
opportunity to re-appraise actually what you do / don't need.

I don't want to sound callous mate, but as you are seperated, then if there is the possibility of divorce (been there, seen it, done it) then
there might be the issue of what goes to who, and if you only have the finished car then that might not work too well.
Just a thought, and let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Good luck matey.

I like that you start with two options then throw 'Buy an expensive watch' into the poll as a third. Brilliant
I'm with Ben; buy what you really need to replace and spend the rest on the car.

I thought of that, but as I left her with almost everything (without telling too much, although she was the one who played away, I do want my kids to
grow up in a nice house). So as she has ended up with the house I would like to think that should would leave the Mk alone. If she pulled that one I
would go after the house.
Anyway more than you need to know but hey we are all friends.
Pete.

I'd say the same as some of the others, go through the list of what's been nicked.
Then buy used, replacments of what you need.eBay and your local "Cash Converters" type shop are good places to look).
Then use the remaining budget, on the Indy, what you have left may not finish it, but it could get it a massive way towards it

No spouse pressure, then finish the car. Summer will be gone before you know it.

Replace what you need, use the rest on the car. Even if it gives you a couple of month's advantage it's better than nothing.

Sorry to hear about the robbery mate.
We've had a load of travellers move in 1/2mile from us. I'm really worried a lot more about this happening to us now.
Not so worried that I didn't come home at 12:00 the other night to find I'd left the backdoor unlocked all day!
Cheers,
James

Thank you for all of your replies. I am going to go with replacing only the stuff I really need/use and put the rest to the Mk (not a watch).
Thanks again
Pete.

That would be the best option, it's a shame it wasn't on the poll
