nbf file reader desperately needed

Can anyone reccomend a ( preferably free) file reader for a nbf back up file.

My back up drive has corrupted the index file and the back up utility can't find the file with all my last 3 months work on it. AAArgh !

Yes Back up now is on the USB hard drive but when I tried to copy it onto the new computer it overwrote the index file, so it will not now access the .nbf files.

I think I may have solved it as it wrote another copy to another drive I use and that seems to be giving me back the data.

Its all a bit of a nightmare because everything is on that file.
