Some CDs won't play in PC
I've just discovered this problem.
PC is HP desktop running Win7, has a Samsung DVD writer installed.
It won't play certain CDs without massive distortion. I've been ripping stuff and adding to my iPod to use as jukebox. I've just
found that Led Zep 3 is ok but 1,2 and 4 are no good. All are bought commercial cds is good condition, play fine anywhere else but not on the pc, and
of course the distortion is recorded in iTunes or Media Player.
I found reference in Google to a similar problem with a Dell notebook, but no real solution
Any ideas?

Probably an attempt at copy protection by selling you something that isn't really a CD. Take it back to the shop.

As said it's probably DRM getting in the way.
Check the small print on the back of the CD if it doesn't have this logo then it's almost certainly designed not to work in computer
drives.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD/DVD_copy_protection for more information
