accurate enough?
Afternoon all
I need to temprarily remove one of my headlights. I thought that if I put a piece of board against the garage door and turned the car lights on, then
sketch the beam pattern I'd be able to do what needs doing then reattach and align using the piece of board.
Will this be accurate enough to then pass MOT next time around??
your thoughts or alternative ideas appreicated

Should be, as long as you park the car in exactly the same place the second time round.

Even if you are slightly out in your alignment I cant see a reasonable MOT tester not letting you give it a tweak when you get it tested.

If you err slightly on the low side, you won't risk blinding other drivers, a nd as said a reasonable MOTer should let you give it a tweak, they
do however tend to frown on too high.

Every MOT tester I've ever taken mine through who found the alignment wrong has fixed it FOC anyway.

Well when I replaced the headlight on a Clio I drove it up to the garage door and marked a big X on the door in pencil. I refitted and readjusted to
match said X. Not mentioned at the MOT!

Any good MOT place will change the alignment for free for you.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Are you going to jack the car up doing whatever you've got planned? That will result in the front being high untill you roll it about a bit.
Reset it after rolling if you do jack it up.

if your only going to roll it backwards and forwards, get some chalk, draw a line on the tyre down to the floor and continue the line on the floor
away from the car - you've now got a line to roll the car back too which should be pretty accurate.
