Internet security
My internet security program has nearly run out should I renew it all look elsewhere including the free one.The one I have now is kaspersky.

I run AVG (free) and have had no problems to speak of there are other free ones around
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

Ive moved on from avg which has become top heavy, to avast free
light on the systray apparently

Yeh, would recommend the Microsoft sec suite (free) or avast free both free for home use7

If you must run Windows one of the paid for versions of Avria. http://www.avira.com/en/for-home don't bother with the free version the
update servers get choked up with traffic.
But the real answer is Linux

Avast - free / minds it's own business until you need it, auto update like a charm / windows & a linux version for trident above.

Just as a thought has anyone ever caught a virus? Notice how they come up with solutions to block these viruses rather quickly? I've already
blocked windows updates on here and nothing's happened so far, I'm beginning to wonder if viruses are as big a threat as people make out

yes, its not nice,
im now on linux, so not realy in any danger of viruses as most are aimed at windows systems.

The hassle and trouble that got caused at work by the odd infection!!! 
We're talking a major global telecommunications company and until we're really clamped down on people and got up to date we'd
sometimes lose GBs and GBs of data on servers that infected users had access to.
Guess who's job it was to restore it all?!!! 
So yes, people get infected and yes, they can be a right pain in the arse!

I use Avast free on my desktop and Windows Security Suite on the laptop and as I am almost daily swapping files between them I reckon what the one
doesn't catch the other will - so if ever one picks up a problem I start looking for the same problem on the other machine.

One of my PC's caught a virus once, it killed 2 more on the network. I could only repair one of them, the other 2 had to be reinstalled. (The
one I repaired took me several hours to fix).
I then installed AV protection.
At the moment I have a 'faulty' PC upstairs, I removed most of the virus but it still tries to run several missing random programs on boot
up.

The difference between paid for security programs and free AV programs is the a paid for programs stops viruses before they get anywhere near your
computer, free AV programs detect viruses once they are opened on your PC.
