Making copies of Comercial DVD I own - Legal ?

The copyright position is usually explained on the annoying first screen that you can't skip through

I have dealt with copyright to do with films music and photography for years, whilst it is a very complex subject in essence you don't own the copyright even if you buy the CD, DVD, you can however, back it up and share it between computers and playback devises.
Copying for your car is not illegal, selling it on or giving it to someone outside of the immediate family who live in the house is.

Actually it currently is, as is ripping CD's onto your mp3 player. But even the most rabid amongst the music/film industry have never tried to enforce copyright against 'personal format shifting', and it's likely to become legal in the near future as part of the current reviews of UK copyright legislation.
