Pictures of unusually engines in 7 wanted.
I'm still looking for a place to star building so I'm trying to research possible engine and 'box options and from what I'm
told the best auto box option seems to come attached mostly to straight 6's in the form of BMW's and Jags. I know Speedy who used to be
here had a xj40 engine in his and I've been watching some videos on youtube of a guy with a nissan 6. I tried googling for pictures but it
didn't give me what I wanted so partly for inspiration, can any one post up pictures of engines that aren't the normal Ford 4 pots and
bike engines, though feel free to post any way, I just want to see some pictures.

Yes, I am considering a GKD Legend, I'm keeping all the options open. Looking at all thats available and also looking into finding a way to have
a 4 pot, but I just really want some inspiration.

A guy in the Netherlands is building an SMG gearbox GKD:

Not sure how far he's got with the SMG bits though.

On that V8 car, is there enough travel on the front rose joints?
They look like they are in the wrong orientation and would limit the range of motion.

longer the wishbone the less the inner rose joints move simples..... i suspect 50mm of travel at the wheel only amounts to 4-5mm movement on the
inner rose joints

This is my Viento with a straight 6 2.8 BMW engine in it (not on the road yet though). You will need to modify the sump on a BMW engine to fit most
7's other than a GKD as it has a bulge on the side that will not clear the lower engine bay chassis rail.

Can't you use the sump off a 5 series (E34 for example). These have the bulge at the front rather than the back.
The Viento seems very long, even the straight six seems somewhat lost ;-)

Having looked at the picture again, I see what you mean - its quite a deceptive angle. The engine is as far back as I can get it and the picture
below shows how close to the front it comes. That said, the Viento is a bit longer than other 7's.
As regards using a sump with the bulge at the front, I had a look at that and I concluded that there would still not be enough room. You would also
probably have to move the oil pickup as well. The second picture shows the mod to the sump that I had to make. Not to difficult if you have access to
someone who can weld ali.

http://www.gkdoc.com/
is the GKD Owner Club.
Not very active forum, but most of the builts have been blogged or links posted there.
Huge source of information when considering this route...
That said, if you don't go for the M3-6 cylinder, which has much more power than the standard 328 (only 193hp with huge torque though), the
ST170 option or simillar 4cylinder 2L shall be considered as well, because much lighter and easier for anciellaries and much easier for fitting, I
guess.

Thanks, I'd rather have a 4, but it's finding a 4 speed autobox that isn't computor controlled attached to one. Thanks for all the
pictures and links though.

ovlovs have aw71s the redblock without ecu and lockup torque converter aswell
whiteblocks have an aw71 with an ecu .. although its no hardship to get rid of it , it will still work as an auto ...
