coping 7GB of data across to SD problems

My old SD card of 7GB that I use in my phone is full so as I have upgraded to a new phone I brought a 64GB SD. Both Micro SD HC (the larger one is series 10?).

I copied all of the data off of the small card onto the C: of my laptop. When I try and copy it back onto the larger one it does not copy all of the data.

This is where it gets strange.

If I find one of the holders that has some data missing (right click properties) and copy individual folders across it says its there and do I want o overright?!?!?

If I say yes any way it copies the files, as I want and they dont even appear!! Sometimes I copy them across and they appear. I go out of the folder and then back in and then the have disappeared. Again, If I right click they are non existant. If I try to copy it says they are already there. AGHHHHH!!

Dud SD card (ebay special) or something else I can try before contacting the seller?

SDHC is only up to 32Gb, a 64 Gb should be SDXC. Check your reader to see if it can handle that sized card. You should also check whether your phone can handle a 64Gb card, I know my Galaxy S2 is only certified up to 32Gb (SDHC).

If that all checks out then you could try using your phone as the reader. If your phone has a USB port (micro USB usually), put the card in the phone and connect the phone to the laptop, then transfer the files that way.

Have you tried formatting the new card, it might just be a dodgy file table.

Perhaps some of the original folders have root privileges and you are not allowed to copy them.

What was your phone Android, Apple, Windows?

Have a look at the folders you are not copying across and check their properties and ownership.

1) check you have the right drivers etc and the equipment can handle that size card

2) if the above is sorted then odds are you have a counterfeit card that has been programmed to advertise a higher capacity than is actually present on the card...there are a lot of these for sale on the likes of ebay.
