OT: retractable network cable: where to get one

Greetings,

Really need to get a 5-10 metre retractable network cable for work. Can't find them anywhere in the UK.

Something like this:

Anyone got any ideas? I've tried ebay, Amazon, CPC/Farnell, RS and a lot of general googling

Thanks!
James

Can't imagine they work very well - they'll need a brushed/slip ringed connection which is going to be an contact resistance/noise mess. Never seen one, assumed this was why.

I've only ever seen short 1m ones in winders. But you can get the winder reels separate to the cables, like this;

cable tidy, cable storage roller, Tower cable reel SET OF 4 ROLLERS

But again, I'm not sure it could hold that length of cable.

The ones I've seen have the reel in the centre of the cable, and both ends unwind together. Imagine a fork in a bowl of spaghetti...

Although having said that, the picture does suggest some sort of static end...

A better solution is a cable drum
Just a long cable round a drum which you unreel fully
Other cable reals have one end through the centre pivot so cable can attach but rotates with drum no need for slip rings
Canford audio, RS Components and maybe Maplins
