How much to store a car...... And a horse

I am looking at possibly buying a barn, land and stables. I'm looking at how to partially finance this
The barn could store 10+ cars in South Devon and stables for 4 horses
I know nowt about horses
If anyone is interested in storage let me know
What would be a fair rate for both??

No idea if it's representative, but my sister was paying £45/month for stable and grazing just outside Gloucester a couple of years ago. This was a private arrangement shared with 3-4 other horse owners.

Just fill the barn with your own cars

20 years ago I paid £25 a month to keep my trailer and car in a covered barn, the owner just set out plots.

It used to house his cattle, he said it was more lucrative having cars, small lorries and caravans and he did not have to get up early or go to bed late, just money through the door.

I had to sign a disclaimer absolving him if the car got damaged while in storage.

Horses, you need stables, fields, muck piles and it all ends in grief for a few £££ more.

My daughter has a horse, all depends on how much you offer to the owner and how close to places to ride. There is a few things to take into account , as said, regards muck heap, water, riding school, field for grazing and security etc.

I'm in a similar situation and also don't know which end of the horse you're meant to hit the ball with. Interested in the insurance implications if someone comes to stay with their 20k nag and then it twists its ankle on my 'not fit for purpose' bit of floor...

I believe that, unless there thoroughbreds, the issue is not the horse but the horse owner! Not that I have ever stored horses.

Nothing wrong with a Thoroughbred. Any horse can be a nutcase. Its all about how the owner interacts with them.

However if you are considering offering livery and now nothing about horses my advice would be to not bother.

I wasn't planning on directly . A lady rents all the stables etc at the moment . I wondered what would be suitable rent so that I could check it against what she is allegedly paying. Horses have no interest to me. There are 4 currently there. Or rather 3 1/2 one is some sort of dwarf thing. I only really want he barn and 1 field.

Any one want to buy 4 stables??

Don't advertise it as a ménage - that's a domestic arrangement - usually involving a number of people in one bed

The horse thing is a manège.

DIY livery has got to be about £25 per week - ish.

I manage a secure storage facility near Gloucester (a converted barn with lots of money spent on doors and alarms) and we charge per car:

Monthly (minimum period) - £50
Winter storage (5 months Nov-Mar incl) - £200
6 monthly - £250
Annual - £400

with a 20% discount to Club members, ie:

Monthly - £40
Winter storage - £160
6 monthly - £200
Annual - £320
