Sony Ericsson T610

I've just got one and thought it a good idea to configure it to receive email. I've created a new POP3 account and set the phone up to receive it, which it does, but when I sent attachments, like a photo of my chassis, I can't view it. The phone tells me it's there, but I just can't get to it.

Does anyone know how?

my motorola v300 will send pics to my pc via email no probs.

seems like you are trying to do it other way? perhaps you are sending the wrong format of picture file.....

try sending a pic from the phone to the pc, then look at it in summat like painthsop pro, and see what the image settings / format is.

Cheers Steve. It's a Jpg, same as the phone, which has been cropped to the max size that the phone takes pics at so it should be alright, theoretically. Not working though.

Basically it was free, but it is a nice phone though.

The plus points are...

- GPRS allows stay connected all day, but only pay for the packets you transfer.
- Ability to send and receive mail from a real POP3 account.
- Bluetooth - absolutely fantastic. This combined with a wireless headset and voice dialling is one of the best features.
- You can download Java applications, not just games, things like proper HTML browsers (although you are charged for some).
- It's a well built phone with a very good battery life.

The negatives are...

- Camera is a nice extra, but the quality is poor. It's spot on for some of the phones other features, like identifying callers by attaching photos to their phonebook entries, but don't expect anything too grand.
- The ringtones are limited and largely annoying, but there are plenty of places to get new ones, including via WAP to your handset.

Have also got a Jabra BT250 Bluetooth headset, which I can recommend. They're usually about £40, but mine was half price as it had acquired some scratches as it bounced of the back of a truck.

Can't comment on the other two I'm affraid.

Edit - If the world is your oyster, I'd recommend a Nokia 6310, it's prolly the best thing on the market at the moment.

thanks

my v300 does just about all of that.

All the cameraphones ive looked at, and my v300, are not great. If you read reviews online of any phone, you have one star its crap dont buy it reviews, againts a five star better than sex review.

at the end of the day, no mobile seems to get a great pic, and then you have divs saying so, that it wouldnt take a decent pic in the pub. like - you have no flash, so what do you expect!

My v300 does all you list, but without bluetooth. Just about the same for the other two choices I listed too.

cheers

steve

got the k700i, very smart phone with some what you would think are pointless but not functions.
Such as the ability to play mp3's and a radio tuner. I thought "how pointless" till I started to use it whilst mowing lawn, riding bike, working in garage. And I never miss a call. smart.

Camera's one of the best on the market, plus takes videos, and also has bluetooth, enabling me wireless surfing the net with my palm. stunning!

If you've got a phone with Bluetooth you should definitely invest in a Bluetooth adapter for your PC, they're only about £20 on http://www.ebuyer.co.uk/ and you can download pictures, tones and themes to you're phone, as well as synchronize with Outlook. Very cool.

I'm had a T610 for the last year... the problem you have is that the picture dimentions or file size is too big for the phone to cope with. As a result you can only view it from PC.

If you have a photo editing suite on your pc you could try resizing the photo and sending it again.

If you are interested I have some T610 software including themes screen savers games and most relevent a program that lets you transfer files directly from your pc to the phone (with a data cable) that I could put on CD for you for a small fee.

let me know if you are interested

I've got a Siemens SL65 slide phone (bit of a suprise as my dad works for Siemens Mobile), which is great. Compact, 1.3mp camera, bluetooth etc and relatively long battery life.

My mistake, I meant the 6230. You can get memory cards up to 1 GB for them and they play mp3s.

Have since been onto Sony and you can't open email attachments on the T610, but I have got a Bluetooth adapter and loads of software for the phone. Can even upload Java games etc to it. Find it's better than a data cable due to compatibility. Cheers for the offer though.

gigabyte is impresive indeed - mine (7610) is a bigger phone but uses the other sort of memory card, which has a maximum capacity of 64megs. Sounds good, but most tunes are 5megs so its actually quite poor.

With my old Siemens SL45 it had an MMC slot, and you can get MMCs up to 1gb. Mp3s galore!!

I didn't think the SL65 had bluetooth so I didn't consider it.

Just got the Sony Ericsson S700i with 1.3mega pixel camera and it has Sony memory stick card slot and came with a 32mb stick.
