"Insert Blank DVD"...but I HAVE!
I tried burning some data to DVD this morning to my NU DVD-061 burner as oft times before. I normally use Roxio's Drag to Disc, but when I
dragged over the files I wanted to burn, a pop-up alert asked me to insert a blank disc into the drive. But I had already inserted one and did so
repeatedly, and all brand new ones too.
None of the DVDs I inserted, burnt or blank, were recognised. The light in the burner comes on when I insert a DVD and the hardware device manager
tells me the device is working OK.
It still reads and burns CDs, just not DVDs.
Anybody got an idea what's gone wrong?
Cheers, Rorty.

Recommend to download latest drivers before you mess with anything else at this stage.

Thanks for posting. I should have said, the first thing I did was check for updates of drivers and firmware.
Cheers, Rorty.

OK then:
The easiest way would be to disconnect the drive. Boot up then shut down.
Reconnect drive
Re-boot.
System should find it and re-configure.

If that doesn't work, it may just not like the brand of DVD you are using - some of those DVD writers are like women and can be very picky.

Ooops, again, I should have mentioned I tried this without success.
Avoneer, I use the same high quality TDK media all the time, today was no different.
I fear the drive has just shat itself, so I've already ordered one of the new LG dual layer burners.
Thanks for your help and suggestions anyway.
Cheers, Rorty.

Are you sure your version of drag-to-disc supports DVD writing???

I've got a 5 year old panasonic gone the same way. At £40 for a dual layer replacement that reads everything it's not worth mesing about
with them. Do you need to format the new disks before they will write?

yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Yes, I've used the drag to disc to back up my data on a bi-weekly basis for the past year or so with this drive.
Exactly Peteff. I bought the LG drive for under AU$85 which is 34.82 pounds at today's exchange rate. The LG 4263B has been getting rave
reviews, so I couldn't resist.
