AVI editor?

Just wondering - is there any freebie software that would allow me to edit an AVI file? Or something to convert it to something like an MPEG that could be edited?

It's just that my little digital camera can make AVI files, but I'd like to trim them a bit - there's always a bit at the beginning and end that needs chopping off!

Ideally, it would be something that would work in Mandrake Linux, but I do have Windows 2000 as well.

cheers,
David

No worries!

Windoze is fine, if I can't find a Linux one - I can dual-boot my machine to Win2K.

I use MainConcept MPEG Encoder... this converts AVI, RM and just about everything else to just about whatever you like.

There are free downloads available from download.com IIRC

Hellfire,

How intrusive is the 'watermark' that MainConcept put on their demo version?

Cheers to all,
David
