what's my pc worth
still toying with getting a laptop, found the right one for me at the right price so i'm now wondering if it's worth me selling my pc and
didn't know if any of you folk on here would have a idea on it's value?
originally built by multivision computers.
basic rough spec as i'm away at the moment is:
AMD 1600xp processor
80GB hard drive which i only fitted a couple of months ago
2x 512mb ddr
4x usb
tv out
dvd drive
cd writer
floppy drive (remember them?!)
17" monitor
keyboard
mouse
etc etc
oh and it's roughly 4yrs old, with the exception of the HD giving up on me a few months back it's never given me a days trouble. only
reason i want to change is i can get a far smaller desk etc with a laptop which will allow me to fit a bigger TV in my room
thanks in advance for any help
built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.

2nd hand PC stuff is always difficult to sell on as the new stuff is very cheap to begin with. For yours I'd not expect to get much more than
£100-150.
People in the know wouldn't pay you much for it as they know what's what and people not in the know will compare a brand new PCWorld
offering for not much more with bundled s/w and a warranty.
It's why when I recently moved house, I binned a large number of PC components. They wouldn't have been worth my while selling them not
even on eBay.

Oops... didn't see that John is offering a 17" monitor too... I'd agree with your ~£200 in that case

I got a 2.4Ghz Dell Laptop with 80Gb HD 1Gb RAM DVD and CD writer for a little more than your maximum on ebay just before Xmas. Second hand - but the
poor student wanted the money for... ... well whatever he wanted it for had nothing to do with me, but he did tell me

Depends on the monitor, assuming CRT then probably under £200 if privately sold (people would pay more in a shop as they think its more reliable.)
A possibility is ebay it...someone will want it, if only for spare/extra parts, and you may be lucky, in a bidding frenzy it could go over £200

Take it apart and sell it on ebay, I've been surprised a number of times at seeing old stuff going for nearly what it was worth new.

I've got one of those. The touchpad has died (it's 6 months old) and needs an external mouse. (Must be hardware as it's failed when
I boot into Linux too)
Have you tried getting Acer support? Bunch of f**king useless sh*tbags. You pay £1200 quid for something an expect it to be good.
I expect they're all too busy shagging chickens and spit-roasting a variety of farmyard animals (whilst videoing the whole thing to show their
grandparents)
THAT's the sort of people (I expect) that we're dealing with here.
Other than that, the laptop rips.
Neil.
Your sort make me sick
