Upgrade from Rage 128 GL for Widescreen 1440 X 900
Dont know if any of you guys can help
Can anyone recomend a simple upgrade for / from my Rage 128 GL graphics card to give proper 1440 X 900 resolution for my new widescreen monitor. Been
trawling the net but cant find anything that helpful.

according to ATI's site the 128Gl supports up to 1900x1400 res on standard drivers
Do you have the one on the this link?

I think the problem is that this is still 4:3 format rather than widesceen 16:9. And thus image distortion. But I am no expert on this and will take
guidance / ridicule if needs be

I see what you mean, unfortunately it looks like the card does not support that resolution
As detailed from ATI
640x480
800x600
1024x768
1152x864
1280x1024
1600x1200
1920X1200
Looks like 1600 x 1200 is as close as you will get to it (presuming your monitor supports that)

It'll be an LCD so 1600x1200 will look horrible, even if it works.
Most graphics card drivers don't support this resolution (WXGA+) automatically.
I've heard the powerstrip utility http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm) can force the graphics card to comply  So give that a go first.

Buy my motherboard and cpu! 
Get yourself a decent PCI-Express gfx card for £50 - will handle all the resolutions ya need

I'll give it a try later
I dont mind buying a new graphics card if it is just a plug and play. Just not sure what card to buy as a direct replacement.
