Changing default browser for MSN

How do I change the default browser for emails in MSN messenger.

When someone sends me a link through MSN it opens in Mozilla and thats fine, but when I click the email link at the top it opens IE which for some reason doesnt open on my laptop.

I have changed the default browser in 'Set Program access and defaults' in the start menu but it still tries to open IE.

Open Firefox, go to Tools --> Options, and click on "Check Now" next to the Default Browser bit. If it's not the default browser, choose Yes, and it should make itself the default.

that'll work if it's opening links in other browsers, (as mine was until i figured how to get it to open them in firefox a couple of weeks back), but mine still opens email in IE.

might just be a quirk of the system, but what would it do if you didn't have IE?

Well IE stopped working for some reason, so I tried uninstalling it so that MSN would look for a different browser. Now it just says 'IE has performed an Illegal operation...'
