LCD screen problem
Evening folks,
I have gone to turn my home PC on this evening, and the monitor (Benq 767-12 lcd) has briefly flashed the logon screen before going blank. The
computer works fine connected to the TV, and I have checked and double checked all theleads and connections to the monitor.
If I shine a torch at the screen, I can feintly see detail, so it is almost as if the lighty up bit of the screen is only working for a fraction of a
second when it is turned on. If I turn the monitor off then on again, it breifly shows the screen, before going blank.
I am assuming that either the backlights in the screen are knackered, or the board/electronics that drives them are kaputt.
So, has anyone seen this problem before? The monitor is about 3 years old and out of warranty, so what are the chances of getting it repaired?
Alternatively, does anyone know where I migth be able to get spares or replacement parts for this monitor?
Cheers
Andy

Bollocks
Sounds like the backlights gone to me.
You can pick up good TFT monitors for not much cash now, might be worth buying a new one for the effort of fixing it. Plus the technology has come on
a lot in the past couple of years, the contrast and colours on new flat monitors is far better than it was 3 or 4 years ago. Mind you, they still
arent as good as a CRT.

Just checked the BENQ website and apparently they have a 3 year onsite warranty for their monitors. As luck woul dhave it, I have had the monitor for
2 years and 10 months!
I'm going to see if they will sort it out, but if it is any hassle, then I think I'll splash out on a new one
Anyone got any good recommendations for a 17" tft screen that can be wall mounted ifpossible?
Cheers

I've installed a couple of hundred AOC monitors in the last few years and not seen one fail yet. They've all got a VESA mount on the back,
you just need to unscrew the stand from it to fit a wall bracket. TBH most monitors over 15" (and a fair amount of 15" have VESA mounts
now.
Oh, the 3 pixel thing is more than likely the factory rejection criteria: if it's got more than three dead pixels then it's classed as
'faulty' and binned, but they'll happily class a new monitor as working and pack it up for sale if it has two dead pixels...

Well, that's a turnout for the books. I phoned Benq support this morning and told them about the problem, and they are sending a replacement
out on monday for exchange, all under warranty!
not bad for a 2.5 yearold monitor!
