Strange Dialout type noises

If my audio system is on but inactive I occasionally get strange dial-out/modem noises through the speakers even though I don't have a modem.

A check on processes or the activity graph on Task Manager doesn't show any unusual activity coinciding with the noise - anybody got a clue?

I thought that as well but it happens when my mobile is switched off as well.

Doh - just realised maybe its the 3G card that I use for my internet connection that tries to connect even when not being used - will try pulling it out. But it is strange that it doesn't do it when trying to connect or being connected or disconnecting.

Youll probably find that it mutes the relevant sound channel when its connecting. Things like TV cards often will unmute sound when turned on then mute again after.

This is personal advise or personal opinion.
