Mint linux

I just installed MintLinux 4.0 for the first time today and as a experienced linux user and developer all i can say is wow, if anybody is loooking to take the plunge into linux, definatly look at this, it just *feels* right straight from the off.

Have they fixed the screen font rendering? I really really tried to get on with 3.x because I want to ditch windows for our home PCs but I eventually gave up because of the dog ugly fonts on our widescreen laptops. I tried a few of the fixes out there but none came even close to the quality of rendering in windows. Plus, messing about deep within the OS seems a bit against the mint ethos. It should just work...

mines a widescreen laptop and i have not found anything wrong with it really

Can you post a full resolution screen shot of the pistonheads front page? I assume you're using anit aliased fonts?

actually i see what you mean, im just used to crappy setups at work so didnt notice!

actually ive done a little digging and its not linux or mints fault, it appears that its firefox not handling fonts very well

the fonts are much better by default as they arent using arial by default, anyhow, ive installed the MacOS X fonts as they are quite nice
