hi guys n gals
my mothers lap top has thrown a wobbeler i think i need to reinstall vista it brings up the first boot page but then nothing i think one of the main drivers is faulty or corrupt i have tryed all i can at this stage but she has no disc so i cant boot from disc to try to repair it
has anyone local got a copy of vista i may borrow

A lappy will normally have very specialist drivers and usually has a re-install disc. You might have problems with the activation too, unless you have a pukka key.

my laptop (5 years old, with xp) never had a reintallation disc. it was somehow stored on the PC, even if you formatted the whole disc. never needed to, so i don't know how it works though...

Just a thought.

Have you tried to start vista in safe mode and the run the system restore.

Many laptops have a seperate boot partition on the hard drive ( This is for the ghost image ), If you try to install vista from scratch. This partition is likely to be lost and there will be no going back if vista does not have the correct drivers for the laptop.

i can get to sysem restor on its version of safe mode but ther are no points to restore to they seam to have been wiped
