#*'*'*'%*printers

bought a hewlet packup all in one the other day, couldnt get it to scan.
got some error messages"hp cue has a problem and will close" and "c/windows/system 32/autoexec.nt.file suitable for running ms dos"
it also comes up as "busy" and leaves a big square in the middle of the screen when i try to turn it off, only way to get rid of the square is to turn compo off.
took printer back and had a moan, they changed it for a different model of HP,same things again,is it me or are HP printers as crap as i am beginning to think they are?

What operating system you using mate? win2k xp etc, have you had another hp printer on before?

Do you have a Roxio buring software installed? Try this:

If the uninstalling & re-installing software suggestions do not work. Here is another thing to try using Windows Defender free download if you haven't got it from Microsoft, run the program. Click Tools, then Software Explorer. Make sure the Category is Windows Startup. Find the HP Imaging program (there were 2 in mine) and highlight the one that ends in hpqtra08.exe, and in the lower right-hand corner click disable. Restart your PC.
The HP CUE will now be gone. So how do you now find the "Toolbox" for the printer (since the icon is now gone in the taskbar)?
To get to the Toolbox, in Control Panel click on Printers and then right click on the Printer Icon, then L click on Printing Preferences. Click the Features tab, and at the bottom, click Printer Services. This takes you into the Toolbox, where you can check the ink levels and clean the print heads.

LINKY THING

If you need to reinstall make sure you uninstall all hp software before installing the latest printers software, also temp turn off antivirus and unplug from the internet if concerned about turning off av.

Hope that helps

Rich
