McAfee expired
My McAfee security programme has expired £30 for another year. What are the alternatives.

I have used AVG free version by Grisoft for about 4 years. It gets regular updates, spots viruses even in your browser. (you get a warning pop up)
I have never copped a virus in 4 years, so that must say something

Not sure whats included in McAfee these days.
But for AV you can use Grisoft as suggested or Avast
As firewall zonealarm is good
I use NOD32 as Av
whatever you do, don´t even think of or look at Norton
Click it

AVG here as well on the home box, nod32 at work and on the laptops though.
Do remember to uninstall your mcfee first or at least shut it down whilst installing avg, two av's running at the same time will really slow
down your pc and can cause other problems.
Cheers

Avira Personal Edition --- 100% effective for me on a number of PCs over several years now.
Almost zero false posatives, signature updates are posted at least once a day.
Big advantage of paid edition is priority over free edition when downloading updates.
Interface is a good clean tasteful design.

Used to be avg free and zone alarm for a long time.
- Then avg free and sygate personal for the last few years.
I also use spybot s&d, adaware, and Asquared. Although non very frequently or regularly tbh.
The most powerfull tool is just common sence.
- But ive never got on with any machine with McAfee anything on it, including my own when i we had free access to it while on the universitys
network. Same for norton.
