virgin/ntl modem. Thats better
With Clives help we looked at my down load speed last weekend. Down load speed (max attained ) was 1000Kbps (Im on 10meg)
So Monday phoned Virgin. Seems I have a faulty modem. Not a problem, well send a new one out.
Wednesday. New modem turns up. Connect and phone up to get it activated.
Diagnosis, the body of the new modem is there, but the brain is DEAD. Not to worry sir we'll send a new one out.
Friday. Wake up at 18:00hrs. Neighbour has accepted delivery (again) of new modem. Connect up, phone Virgin for activation.
Do speed checker and I now have 10meg down load speed.
So Clive, THANK YOU for your time and patience.
edit bit.
PS Ahmed is DEAD good.

Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Until you have the audacity to download about 10 songs from a legal download site like Napster or itunes or even look at something like BBC IPlayer
...... at which point you'll be back to 1000kbps for the next 5 hours or so

I can download around 20Gb in 2 hours or so with my Virgin BB connection - it's completely awesome and I love it

Oh yes, but a 75% restriction on a 20Mg line still leaves me 5Mg, still 10 times faster than I got on the old ADSL line.
And soon it will be a 50Mg line
