Hi guys
Any one any experience of this fuel cap RMD link
As with most things now that Im near the end of the build I want to keep costs down and save for the test.
Would this cap be ok?? I mean its easy enough to make a teather just wondered about the external projections and other considerations
Thanks
A
No at the stage of IVA yet myself but I got a similar filler from car builder solutions which says IVA ok, but that is all I have to go on. The link
below seems to be yours which also says IVA ok.

Hi
That fine for IVA, BUT , & there's always one.
You will need an unleaded insert for it & make sure its tethered.
If you have not done it yet, don't put it in the back panel but on the top.
You'l save yourself a lot of agro at the pumps.
Good luck
René
Why put it on the top and not the back panel? I think it looks smarter on the rear, and then you don't run the risk of spiling petrol onto the
top panel and possibly into the cockpit....
And is the unleaded insert compulsory for IVA?

Hi
Pretty sure it still needs to be tethered.
As for the insert , we had to have it in Dec 2011 , he looked for it!
With regards to filler positioning , the reason I said top was that my
son had a Westfield with the cap at the back & was always
complaining about filling it up , stop start, stop start.
If your not sure about anything regarding IVA
Get in touch via email : approvals@vosa.gov.uk
They are very helpful.
We pestered the life out of them & they always came back with
a polite reply.

It looks exactly the same as my one but mine is black. You will need a teather but thats easy to do. Mine passed ok without the unleaded restricter a few months ago but these testers seem to be very inconsistant.
I got one of these
Not exactly Locost but has everything you need. Mine is black
The insert was deleted from the IVA test.
Yep I have what looks like the same filler and there all made by Newton.
oh yeh water rail is in the post.
On a budget, maybe

Hmm, not sure about tethering, the cap must either be tethered to the vehicle or be of a lockable type where the key can only be removed when the cap is locked or an automatically opening and closing, non-removable fuel filler cap
On those caps they can be turned to the closed position and the key removed without it being fitted to the filler neck. As a result it needs to be tethered.

You don't need the cap tethered for IVA if the key stays in when the cap is removed (regardless of whether you can remove the key by locking
it).
You no longer need to have an unleaded restrictor.
I think they have removed the unleaded fuel restrictor from the IVA, I couldn't find it from the October 2012 one. It used to say you needed one if your vehicle was unleaded and newer than 1990 or something to that effect.

Cheers guys, you've just saved me £21.60 with this thread.
