Can anyone explain why a deodorant aerosol
sputters out to just an escaping gas with no
deodorant but starts working again if you stand on it?

I think I have an idea but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Decreasing the volume of canister by crushing increases pressure as same anmount of gas is squeezed into a smaller space, no change in temp.

Yeah but the gas was coming out anyway
so what happens to the deodorant.
Does something re-liquify?

It splutters out as the pressure is getting low (nearly equalling atmos pressure).
But when you stand on it you have severely reduced the volume, ie you have increased the pressure, so it then appears as if you have 'recharged' it.
