Repo Man - lets hear your favourite cult movies
Jasper - 27/2/12 at 01:48 PM

Sat and watch a newly released Blu-Ray version of the 80's classic Repo Man last night - I'd forgotten what an absolute gem that is, love Emilio Estevez and Harry Dean Stanton, and of course directed by the legend that is Alex Cox - remember him from Moviedrome???

So, leading on from that, lets hear some of your cult classic movies, incase I've missed any! Here's a few that spring to mind, representing a few different genres and decades:

Paris Texas
Evil Dead 11
The Hunger
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Scanners
Videodrome
Freaks - 1932
Scarface
Clerks
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence
Withnail and I
Big Lebowski
Machette

mookaloid - 27/2/12 at 07:18 PM

I love films

Far too many to list and I'm not sure if all of these are what you would call 'cult' but

The Good The Bad and the Ugly
Fist full of Dollars
A few Dollars More

In fact most Clint Eastwood films (not paint your wagon obviously)

Most Quentin Tarantino stuff Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Jackie Brown was genius

The Secretary

All the Alien films

Matrix - mainly the first one

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo films - the original ones with subtitles

The Battle of Britain

French connection

Gone in 60 seconds

I watched all of the Harry Potter films in order over Christmas

Peteff - 27/2/12 at 07:41 PM

Get Carter, the original is the only cult film I like.
O Brother Where Art Thou ? always makes me grin and any of the Pirates of the Caribbean

French Connection and Brazil if they qualify as well.

Ip Man 1 & 2 (guess I like martial art films)
Airplane
little embarrassed but, Fast & Furious - only for their lack of acting and adherence to physics
Death to Smoochy

Top choices! Allthough I would swap Life of Brian for The Holy Grail, which IMO is the best MP movie.

One flew over the cookoo's nest.
The italian job
Star Wars (4)

probably lots of others but i can never remember them when i'm asked.

britishtrident - 27/2/12 at 10:48 PM

I am a bit surprised "Full Metal Jacket" hasn't been nominated by anybody yet.

Full metal jacket
M*a*s*h
True grit (the original)
Dune
Apocolypse Now (redux)
Baberella
Blade runner
Silent running
Blazing saddles ('hey the sherrif's a ...........', or 'anyone want more beans?.........'
All quiet on the western front
The quiet man
Lord of the rings (live action or animated although the later wasn't finished)
Point blank (although the remake 'pay back' is a reasonable second)

Just a selected few of lots.
