Hi, need a bit of advice, I've just sold a bike and the buyer may not be able to collect himself and has suggested he sends postal orders prior
to the collection company picking it up, are these as good as cash? Any downsides.
Cheers
Rich
Depends on how much time you'll have to go to the Post Office and cash them before the bike's collected.
If the Post Office swap them for hard currency then they're ideal. The only real loser is the bloke who buys them, as he'll be paying a fat
fee for the privilege.
David
why does the word Scam drift into my mind?
Hence my comment about having time to cash them - if the POs are phoney then the Post Office will reject them, and you can halt the handover.
If they're good you have a wad of cash in your hand that can't be taken back (as with a bounced cheque).
Just don't hand over the bike until they're cleared.
Sounds perfectly legit to me; as said above, just cash them before releasing the bike to be sure they're genuine.
