Hi,

struggling to find what I need, not helped by not knowing what they'd be called

I have loads of DVD's, bluerays etc plus movies on my computer and hard drives. What I'm after is something that stores these on a hard drive thing (with no computer) and just plays them from some sort of folder structure menu etc a bit like me recording programs onto the freeview recorder. I tried using that plugged into my hard drive through the USB port but it doesn't work.

Any idea's?

Like this

Edit, posts crossed in the ether, found same thing.

Or just use an old laptop with an hdmi port?

I use a £30 android TV box and a £70 2TB external HD.
Works perfectly and keeps the kids quiet

Perfect thanks, not too expensive either

Cheers

I'll add, that if you're going to connect it to your network using wifi, you might want to invest in a pair of Powerline adaptors.
£20 and a rock steady connection with no drop outs.
