Hi Folks
Help needed please can I replace the rear bush and oil seal without splitting the gearbox,I know the seal is easy to change but I have lift in my
shaft so looks like bushing is knackered, anybody done this change.Thank you in advance cheers Richard
I think the tail has to come off mate
I have heard of people doing it in situ but wonder how when theres little room between the bush and the output shaft to get anything in
I had enough grief doing the seal with the box in the car - theyre very tight
The bush has a split along it ..
Description
Find split or probably better up the oil groove like Ian Oddified said...

It can be done in situ but it's not easy. Remove the oil seal (self tapping screw in through the steel part, claw hammer against the tail shaft,
pull the seal out), then you need an arrow shaped bar/chissel, run along in the oil groove along the bottom and fold/crease the tail bush inwards, it
will then just slide out easily with a hooked piece of wire.
Tap the new bush in carefully with a suitable tube, avoid putting a burr on the edge or the prop won't slide in afterwards and then the new oil
seal.
Much easier with the tail housing removed and on the work bench though!.
