Anyone have a link to an online manual for the Type 9 box? I'm having a job trying to figure out how to get the layshaft out.

Can't help with anything on-line, but I have seen a Haynes manual for gearboxes that includes the Type 9 - it was in my local library.

try a sierra manual, has quite a good guide, but there is a dedicated gbox guide for thr type 9 and the prev one. I p/copied from the local big library, they often have manuals on reference out back, you may have to ask for it.

My sierra haynes manual doesn't appear to have a diagram of the type 9 - was it called something else as well?

Thanks guys. I still haven't got the bastard apart so I'm going to have to look into these options. A mate has the green sierra manual (mine is blue) so I'll see if that has anything if not I'll look on ebay for the v6 manual or a dedicated gearbox manual.

Hi Andy,

If you don't have any luck with your mates manual let me know - I can scan the relevant pages from the Haynes Gearbox manual and send them to you in PDF form.

Whack the cast iron box with a 14lb persuader and... hey presto you can pick the shaft up out of the debris...
