whatever happened to?
Scampi.
was on every menu in every restatuararant in every county in England but now is nowhere to be seen.
have we eaten it to extinction?
it was alwasy served as little breaded nuggets so noone really knows what it looked liked, how big it was. all we ever knew was the the singular was
Scampo.

Still sold in plenty of fish and chip shops oop North, and you can buy it in the supermarket if you fancy some at home.
My kids like to peal the breadcrumbs off - looks like a big prawn but tastes more like lobster/crayfish.
Dahn sahf I think they use the French word langoustine for them these days and don't bother with the breadcrumbs.

AFAIR most scampi is made from monks tails. (A fish)
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
