B*ll*cks it was real!
The steel-sheet that gets put between the neck and head is the 'safety'. The fact that it slides in place indicates that the fake-head is
in the top compartment and the original-assistant is in the middle compartment. If she hadn't managed to get her head out of the top
compartment, then the sheet would either have not slid through, or her head was severed then by the sheet!
The only 'trick' here is in the mechanism that makes the fake-head move for a bit after the sheet has been inserted!
