Im not convinced about that vid..there is something 'sped up' about his movements across the strings. I may be paranoid but id say that video editing.

Of course if im wrong my hats off to him

Nope, that guitar video is real enough. The guy is quite good but its a copy of the JerryC version, and its not as good as the original version either:

If you search for jerryc on google video. Watch his real playing, not the covers!

Just out of interest, I'm nearly 40 - would I stand any chance of learning any intrument to a reaonable standard - ie where I wouldn't have neighbours trying to knock the house down cos of the din

jeez i recognised marcus' tune with the sound off, from his fingers must've been playing too much!

Simon, FWIW, i bought a guitar last time michael angelo batio was mentioned (flak monkey again the guilty party!) and can play most of the tune now, at about 2/3 speed. Neighbours dont even know cos i do most of it without the amp! Amps encourage cheating because distortion covers mistakes.

Michael Angelo Batio, held the record for the fastest player for a long long time. I think officially he still does, but Rusty Cooley is stupid quick, however he plays on an 8 string, and his playing isnt very melodic at all.

MAB is the king of speed playing as far as I am concerned, JerryC is also fantastic from my point of view, but they have slightly different playing styles. Sweeping is very cool, and several of my mates can do it astoundingly, takes a lot of practice and coordination, but at the end of the day is not as impressive as some of MABs fretwork

PS Joel, glad you are getting on well with learning Speed Kills/No Boundaries. Good on you and keep up the good work! I sure as hell know I havent got the dedication!

thats the hard bits! The sweeping is easy as its more about timing and coordination, the picking is ridiculously fast! But thats not the end of the world, as the sweeping looks far more impressive!

Must say, MABs album that no boundaries came off is awesome, one good song after another. I need to go back to his site and order the new one really. Wonder if Itunes has it?!

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
