Ive also heard of people removing the keys to unlock the glovebox while driving.

Keys were in the ignition.
You can tell that cos as soon as he opened the door the keys in ignition alarm sounded. Besides, it would have locked a hell of a lot sooner going
along that road. My WRX (same shape) would lock the wheel with almost no movement if the keys weren't in.
