People on this forum get all worked up about alternative energy - solar, windmills, etc.
Now there's a new answer... hamsters!

If I used them to power my Volvo, how much CO2 does several thousand hamsters produce?
The windmill info though looks pretty comprehensive

Sod the CO2, what about the Methane?
Could you pipe their anal emmissions into the inlet manifold?

I like the principle, but what if you fed the hamsters to something larger, like a cat. Replace dozens of small wheels with a single bigger wheel.
If that doesn't work, feed loads of hamsters to several cats and feed the cats to a tiger in a massive wheel?

If public transport was powered like this, it would solve the overcrowded prison situation at a stroke.
Edit: The prisoners build up massive stamina and leg power, thus preventing the plod from catching them next time. So, no re-offenders.

Would a single Cat to hamster ratio of 1:100 be like having a supercharger at 1 bar boost?

You should be looking at lizards or amphibians as surely they would have better efficiency since they do not consume energy to keep body temperature
constant?
Then a matter of selecting one with the best power to weight ratio.

just burn the hamsters
they are a bio-fuel as they turn into CO2 which is inturn used by plants which is then eaten by more hamsters

All of a sudden £5 a gallon looks so much more appealing and less hassle.

They depend on sunlight for heat/energy to raise their body temperature, so you wouldn't be able to drive at night.
