Wigan Boxing Day
Anyone go to Wigan on Boxing Day night? What did you go as?
For those who don't know. Every Boxing Day night, Wigan just turns into a huge fancy dress themed pub crawl. I was a bit unsure so just threw
some old combats on and did my face in camo cream and felt a bit under dresed. There were some excellent costumes. No theme, just anything goes.

Didn't go this year - but have been in the past (parents are from Standish). The comedy I remember was a couple of Asian girls who where obvious
tourists, dressed normally, amazed that an entire town was in fancy dress and taking hundreds of pictures.
If you've not been it literally is the ENTIRE town in fancy dress. If you go dressed normally you'll feel so out of place. Also people do
put a lot of effort in - no Santa hats = a costume here.
It all starts with the football in the afternoon. If you go in fancy dress you get to line up at half time and the chief exec picks the best costumes
and gives them free tickets to the next game. I saw a full set of teletubbies, ghost busters, the usual santas. The bravery award had to be for
someone dressed as Justin Hawkins from the darkness - it was freezing and he only had a lycra jumpsuit on + inflatable guitar.
