I knew Brown was just a little to quiet about expences

So it's Darling with his fingers in the pie!

Although Brown denied it how many disgraced MP's will seek a nice well paid job in the Lords in 6 months time.

Grrrr

6 months? No need to wait that long.

So far 52 have, you know, mentioned it, in passing to the relevant commitee

Looks like Brown is toast anyway, only see quotes like this just before the fall. The only card he has left is that he could call an election where pretty much the whole party, given current polling, loses immediately - the nuclear option in party politics.

Edit: Just re-read and the last paragraph is telling. He's left himself plenty of room to throw Darling to the wolves if he needs to.
quote:
The prime minister defended Chancellor Alastair Darling over fresh expenses claims in the Daily Telegraph, insisting he did not think there was "substance" to the the paper's reports.

To be honest compared to what most of them appear to have been doing, Darling's seems one of the most likely to be a genuine mistake/oversight. He's paid up his maintenance bill for the next 6 months (like many people in flats have to), and then a couple of months later got a new job with a free house, and forgotten about it. Boo hoo, naughty man.

It's not like he's trying to claim a duck mansion is essential to his job...
