Out of date Guinness
Just been given a crate of Guinness but it is 4 months out of date, started drinking it today and it doesn't taste too bad just a bit of a fizzy
taste!
Will it be ok?
If we knew what it was we were doing it wouldn't be called research would it!

If you don't get the squits and a throbbing head it's probably gone off.

I watched a program that explained that food & drink products tend to go out of date due to excessive bacterial growth, not really something to
ignore
Fame is when your old car is plastered all over the internet

it will be fine. Theres very little potential for bacterial growth in a sealed can. Mouldy bread does you no harm either.
It would be a 'best before' date rather than a 'use by' date, which is totally different.

According to Charlie Papazian in the New Joy of Homebrewing:
No harmful pathogens survive alcohol and acidity content of beer.
Bacteria that causes fowl smell and taste does....
So if it tastes OK, then it should be OK.
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....

And even if it tastes foul and stinks, it's still ok if you're desperate because it has no harmful pathogens! Wow, isn't
beer amazing.
