One Of Those Days...

I thought I'd keep this separate from the 'driving incidents' thread - but I've just had 'One Of Those Days'.

Had a lousy night's sleep - wide awake and didn't nod off until 03:30 or thereabouts, so not a lot of use the next day (I need my sleep). Decided to do something not too challenging or risky as I was feeling less than sparkling, so I thought I'd have a go at designing something in my freebie CAD package so I could make it on my 3D printer later on. Being freebie software it's a bit flaky at times so it was a bit of a struggle, but I got there in the end.

Printed it out, and it was probably one of the best prints I've ever made - dimensions correct, and nicely finished... and a perfect mirror image of the part I actually wanted! Absolutely no way I could use it...

Anyone else had a day like that?

Yes indeed, a while ago I bought a new scuttle for my car, first thing was the hole for the steering column...

Offered the new one up to the old one, front face to front face, marked the hole, cut it out, put it on the car and the sinking feeling creeps up realising my car is not left hand drive....

Yeah that sickening feeling when you realised you cocked up big time.

Marked out three rooflights from below the roof to ensure the joistd did not get in the way. Done by drilling hole and pushing through a peg so can be seen from above.

Get onto roof with a circular saw and cut one rectangle out, not noticing id missed one row of pegs thus cutting out the area between 2 rooflights instead.

Thought I'd better say it before anyone else came up with it
