I don't think he's actually doing a loop. It looks like he's pulling back then when on the vertical he's pushing the stick
forward. This in some cases if done right caused the plane to sort of surf on a wave. This in turn causes weightlesness for a short period. The USAF
use this method to train would be astronaughts. They also used this when filming Apollo 13.
