I agree with getting rid of the smut
as it seems we have a lot of minors on here
and the internet can provide all of the "perfs" as much as they like without clogging up a "car related site"

I'm maybe a bit old fashioned, but I look on the site as being like a genuine real life club. You wouldn't tell a juicy joke / story at a
club night if there was an under 16 listening in.
The various under 16s who post may come across as mature beyond their years, but they are still minors and for as long as they are in here it's
maybe best if we respect that fact. As I'm sure their parents / guardians would wish.
My 2 bob's worth....

Middle ground?
In the spirit of Locost-only postings, shouldn't avatars with bouncy boobs, swiveling buttocks, and the like also be prohibited? And joke
threads with sexual content or inuendo? 'Tis a slippery slope from a one to the other if you think about it. . . .
I haven't voted because both positions offered are extreme. If I could add a proposition, it would be that anything goes (in Mad House) as
long as it's FUNNY and flagged appropriately.
I think it was this site that had the interactive bum that you could launch with your mouse (to study oscillating waveforms in my case). That was
funny. And the devil tattoo (will never forget that one) - in it's own way, that was funny. The missing wife thread photo was funny, too, just
in case you worry I'm misogynous.
Flagging threads as NOT WORK SAFE is, as I see it, the same as NO MINORS would be, but it would be easy enough to add both warnings to a thread.
I came to this forum for the technical info about homebuilts, but have since enjoyed the whole shebang.

As far as I'm concerned all this talk of censorship and "protecting" children is nothing but the same religious bigotry that chased
Hippy off the board last year -- just wrapped up in a prettier package.
If your kids are so sheltered that they haven't seen a few stray body parts, heard a dirty joke or met a gay person in 14 years there's
pretty much no hope for them -- they'll likely be in therapy for the rest of their lives if they haven't already topped themselves.
Please keep in mind that your decision to forego fun for the rest of your life due to a cult-like devotion to "family values" does not
force the rest of us to kowtow to them.
This is not a gratuitous spate of religion bashing -- I believe in God, him being the bloke what invented physics and all, but the politics of
religion have very nasty side effects, war, censorship and intolerance among them.

ted, WTF has this thread got to do with religeon? this thread is about inappropriate poo being posted on this forum - probably sparked off by donuts
video the other day. not a stray body part, but techincally hardcore porn (i wasnt offended myself, just suprised it was there).
going off on a rant might be fun, but it helps if you arent talking bollox whilst doing it

Hmmn, I missed the video, I assumed this whole flap got started with the text-only "penis statistics" post.
And these moralistic pogroms are ALWAYS about religion -- "they" just like to tart it up as something else.
I suppose I might be mis-remembering but I thought Hippy was getting all sorts of nasty abuse related to the sexual orientation post.

Im in a good position on both counts raised here.
firstly, im not religious. I started this thread. I was merely pointing out that there seemed to be an 'explosion' in 'smut'
on here recently. Being in the sad position of highest poster, and 3 years service, it seemed particularly noticable to me. I was asking if others
felt that perhaps things were going a little too far.
secondly, read the sexuality thread again. I think it was me 'popping' at hippy. If you dont have a life, take a greater look at posts
between hippy and me, and you will see that we have always had freindly pops at each other - even an avatar war once! He did take me a bit too
seriously at one point, and i apologised off line. Ive met hippy in real life, and we occasionally chat on messenger. hes a nice guy. as far as i
remember, he did leave cos of frustration with his lack of time to build, getting unemployed, getting a job, whatever.
simply put, hippy wasnt chased off.
but i do wonder if posting borderline porn might have that effect on others.
There was a post a while back that a younger person on here couldnt acess the site from school cos their porn filter saw this site as such. Also, for
those looking from work in their lunch break, clicking on something unexpected could be job threatening - people dont always mention not work safe.
Since I have my new job, I dont access this site from work any more.
our corporate server is based in switzerland and is likely monitored.
a final point......
there isnt any such thing as free speech. There are any numbers of things that I could say on here (as could you) that would put you in a court of
law. There are limits of waht you can say ina free society - ask abu hamsa. 'free speech' is a matter of personal taste. if a homosexual
member decided to post a video of his favorite butt banging video, then thats legal, if over 18. And irt would be free speech. and i expect the vast
majority of the members of this site would go nuts in indignation over it.
free speech = bollox. Doent exist.

if you are concerned that your kids might see something you feel inappropriate, then it reinforces your responsibility as a parent.
either stop your child looking, or supervise them properly, or relax a bit!!
Properly marked, in the correct section (madhouse), and legal.... no problem here!

I've now forbid him from signing in to this forum. He now must use other car related forum's - I guess it's all in the name of good
sense.
How silly of me to consider exposing him to the wonders of building your own vehicle and how other people think and solve problems... would do him
some good. I must have had a mental block... better go see the quack.

I really HATE having to agree with Steve!
But on this issue I am whole heartedly behind him! (two paces that is)
This site is about cars, or was once upon a time! That is what brought us all together, our mutual interest!
The fact that many share other interests and/or perversions together is not really relevant to this site.
Adding the Madhouse section was as I saw it quite acceptable as long as it stays within the realms of the rest of the site. For the purpose of sharing
humorous stories and jokes that can be viewed by anyone. Subtle innuendos can be accepted to a degree, but blatent porn is just too dangerous.
Surely a link to another site would be better than cutting and pasting pictures onto this site. This at least puts the responsibility onto the person
clicking the link and enables this site to work within the limits of server checking for work places and school/colleges.
Like steve I'm not religious, but that doesn't mean I have to have no morals either!
My computer is in the dining room and my kids often watch over my shoulder when I'm browsing this site. Why should I have to limit my viewing
times to after their bedtime?

I think the following should be banned:

- Replies that ALWAYS use rubbish sexual innuendo
