Great Gable on Sunday anyone else there, from here?

Not sure if this is right section:

Sunday we rose early at 6.30 am drove down Borrowdale and set off walking

The weather was sleet, rain and strong winds as we progressed some pleasant views were revealed

We went over Green Gable crossed Windy Gap

where we met lots of other people converging from different directions

by 3 minutes to 11 we were there for

The Fell and Rock Climbing Club annual Remembrance

This is non religious denominational, non political event – originally started to remember their members who died in First World War. Great Gable and surrounding fells were purchased and eventually donated to the nation as an area with freedom to roam unhindered, as years have passes the event has been opened up to share with anyone who enjoys the freedom of the hills and living in UK

The memorial with wreaths from RAF search and rescue as well as many private individuals

A great occasion and as usual lots to think about, humbling to see some fairly elderly people still making the effort, we found the next pic hilarious – spot the dog time!!

Anyone else there or going next year?

nice one,

you must have some pretty hard core crampons to be able to stick to the side of the mountain like that.

Surprised to see the plaque hasn't been stolen by pikeys! It is only a matter of time

Thats an awesome walk and one that sticks in my memory. I did it in a fashion when i was about 10 (a long time ago) and promised myself to do it again plus a few others when my kids get a bit older. Im a bit out of touch now though so will have to dig out the route again.

I bet you had a great day.

Yeah, my kids come whenever possible and it is quite an event, this year a woman from work came a long and in previous years we have had other folk too.
If you are upfor it nextyear give me a shout nearer the time - there's a fellow from the NE in the hoodies who might turn out to,
