Why is my central heating constantly on!!

Even though the electronic controller is set to off position the radiators are always on, the only way i can turn them off is to shut the boiler down or close the thermostat on each radiator, what's the problem??!!

Any advice appreciated, cheers

I dont know, the problem is I dont live in the house, i rent it out and i live 4 hours away!

However, it was doing the same thing when i lived in the house last year.

This is the type of programmer, not sure if it has a 'frost stat', how does that work?

Does a woman live in the house? I think you may have your answer there!
Bit of a wild guess here but coulod it be that your 3 way valve is knackered and it's not closing off to the heating.

4 hours away?

I'm sure it would be cheaper to get an engineer to take a look at it.

Although I agree with MisterGrumpy, it's probably a woman

Hmm not sure why you’re expecting the radiator to go off if their only controlled by their own thermostats, which simply regulate the water flow if they get hotter than the set level. Normally they have no direct control with the electronic controller.

Are you actually talking about the water pump continuing to run after the boiler is turned off? That’s not really a bad thing as it tends to transfer heat from a hot room (i.e. in the sunshine) to a colder room, equalizing room temperatures.

No, I am talking about the CH being set to off on the programmer but the radiators are still red hot!

I thought the 3 way valve could only operate so that either CH or HW circuit is flowing, so if it is faulty i dont understand how hot water from the HW system could get into the radiators....

Is the programmer a seperate room stat jobby? If so can you try turning the heating off at the boiler itself so you can determine whether it's the boiler or just the controller that's up the spout?

There is a seperate controller in the kitchen next to the boiler and the thermostat is in the hallway..
