And I wonder why my build is so slow!
My build is taking longer than I would like BUT I am enjoying it so whats it matter
I see little things that I think 'could I do better' and if the answer is yes then I do. 6 weeks ago I got an indicator controller
(self-cancels for my steering wheel mounted buttons) and a stop/start/ immobiliser module and thought 'I could mount them together and build my
own CCU box (Chassis Control Unit)' and so I did
Designed a board to go in a Cinch ModICE enclosure, had some boards made (£80 for 5) and just put it all together today. Now one loom connector will
link up indicator buttons, indicators, side repeaters, hazard light switch, stop/start switch and RFID key
CCU
The same module will give me 3 different switched feeds (not tested it yet but should be 40 amp combined from all 3) for other car functions such as
ECU, Dash2 Pro, driving lights etc.
Its cost twice as much as just using the two modules 'as supplied' but they are now in a sealed container made for the job

Had three steering columns in mine (and before any smart rrses ask if they were all in at the same time, NO) First was Mk2 Escort, second Allegro then
Sierra. Yes, if you are totally self building its a development process but it never ends so I recon you never actually complete the build!!! Stiil to
do for me, full hood and side screens.

smart work, lets hope the electronics dont fail on the cheap circuits. . .
Have you got a build log?
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

You sound like me! I'm currently modifying a Sony mechless stereo to give compact mp3 player for my Striker!
I looked at those RFID immobilisers, I may try one later, so please do keep us up to date with your progress
I did think that I'd probably keep my original lock behind the dash as a back up

Not that the immobiliser has anything to do yet Pete.....
Has your Mrs not finished your engine yet?

Yes its the red PCB taken out of the non-sealed box it came in. The quality of the board and the assembly are better than I thought. If I have any
doubts about the longevity I will make a loom bypass for that bit later and design and build my own from scratch to replace it
My next task is to build a test harness and load it to full power in the environmental test chamber and then check for any thermal hot spots with a
Flir camera I might as well use the kit I have
The Mrs says the engine is ready Jeff, odd that I can still see the cams and the water pump is still in its box!

Have you got the details of the indicator canceler? Does this cancel on angle or does it set a time to the flash?

It cancels with time or stays fully on depending how long you press the buttons for. Can also be used to operate the hazard lights if you connect it
to permanent power to meet MOT regs, I haven't worried about the battery drain as I always use a 'kill' switch on the battery when I
leave the car for any length of time.
I got it from ebay (best price I could find), search for "Signal Dynamics turn signal cancelling". I have had it hooked up to my steering
wheel and LEDs on the test bench and it does exactly what it says on the tin
