Zetec starter motor
Zetec series 1 silver top 1800 with type 9 box.
Which starter motor ?
Looking around the interweb the 1800 cvh or 2 litre DOHC from a sierra has been quoted a few times, part numbers i have are LRS 707 And LRS 543.
Can anyone tell me which one ?
many thanks

Thanks Mark
I have just worked out the LRS 543 has a smaller body, did you have to shave a bit off the sump to fit this starter ?

IV got a 1.8 cvh on mine. Bolted straight on with an escort sump.

Both LRS 707 and 543 physically fit. Key differences are:
543 has a shorter stubbier body 707 is a longer slimmer body.
543 has a longer throw of the starter gear on the spline.
I've got pictures of both somewhere & will dig them out. I had a 453 which & the throw was too long & consequently the flywheel ate
the starter cog. For me the 707 with a shorter throw was correct.

Thanks chris
I managed to get some more info and it looks like the 707 will do for me.

Got mine off natehall from a 1.8 CVH Sierra. Winds the motor over good! Its tight but no mods to the sump needed.

Hello mark
I'm going to use the 1800 flywheel that came with the engine with an early 220mm escort/mondeo clutch kit along with the cct 133 release
bearing.
I'm was hopng this will be the same as everyone else, will have to wait and see who reports back

I've used the tiger lightened flywheel, I've never compared the two so the 707 may be the one you need

I found the follwing website when I was searching for the LRS707
At the right there's a cross reference table with all starters that were used for the same engine (2.0DOHC)
You can also order a new OEM starter motor that is the same.
Maybe usefull to someone.

Bob,
I have used the
Remy-Delco unit DRS 3468 (Sierra 1.8 CVH, 1988), this is the same as a Lucas LRS 707
works fine with my 1.8 Escort flywheel on my 2.0L zetec.
