4age cooling advice
I am trying to layout the cooling pipework on my engine. I have drawn the diagram below of how I am planning to plumb it. Convinced myself this is
how it should be but am still unsure? Any advice would be much appreciated. Also plan to use a rover inline thermostat...

Have a look in http://home.clear.net.nz/pages/phil.bradshaw/Index.htm under 4AGE > RWD - follow the thread and it's all in there I think.

Surely the pipe from the pump should go to the top hose not bottom?
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

toyota have the pump outlet going to the bottom of the rad, i have used a similar route as shades has but i have used the original thermostat housing,
have a look in my photo archive, but i wont be using a heater so the header tank will go in place of the heater.

depends on the pump; all engine I am familiar with, and that is not too many, the pump sucks water in, the water leaving the block via the tehrmostat
housing.
so in this case, pump goes to bottom of radiator.
it probabluy does not make that much difference although if water flows vertically as opposed side to side in radaitor, it wil be slightly more
efficient if hot water comes in vai that top, as it cools, it will be come denser so natrually will want to flow dwonwards.

My engine ran too hot when I used the Rover thermostat housing (especially in the summer) but I know Raw recomend using it so not too sure why this
was the case.
I'm sure someone has posted a picture of the cooling plumbing before on another thread - perhaps it is worth a search?

Most suck water from the bottom hose and pump it through the block where it returns to the top of the radiator via the thermostat when it's hot
don't they? 4age looks a bit of an oddball to me with the way the thermostat is set up and a lot of sites seem to not bother with one.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
