One for Mango

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7176891.stm

The man walked into a station to report that he had been held up at gunpoint by a gang who had stolen his mobile phone.

But when the detective phoned the number of the phone reportedly stolen, it rang in the complainant's pocket.

"The shock left him speechless for a few minutes," said police spokesman Eugene Opperman, adding that the man, 25, was then arrested for perjury.

Then he should sue for wrongful arrest.
He should have been charged with making a false complaint, not perjury.
He should be awarded the sum of one penny and then birched for being a pratt.
I rest my case m'lud.

<tongue in cheek> I didn't realise we had an expert on South African law </tongue in cheek>

I recall a story on here (couldn't find it when I searched) about some pikies that knicked a phone from a van and were quite upset when a friend of the owner called it and it rang in their pocket.
